Head Coach

Franciotti enters his 8th year at the helm of the Titans, and his 17th year of coaching high school wrestling.

In 2024, the Titans won back-to-back league championships. Later qualifying 6 wrestlers to the state meet. Miguel Estrada finished the year 4th in state.

In 2023, the Titans won the newly formed South Yosemite River League. The Titans finished the year 19th in the state with 7 state qualifiers. Miguel repeated with his second state title.

In 2022, Franciotti led the Titans to a top 20 state performance at 15th with 7 state qualifiers. Miguel Estrada capped the season off with a state title as a sophomore.

In 2019, Franciotti led the Titans to a 7th place finish in the State, qualifying 10 wrestlers to the state meet. Cole Reyes, Max Aguirre, Trent Tracy, and Ryan Morphis all finished the year as state placers.

In 2018, Franciotti was named Coach of the Year by the Bakersfield Californian in his first year at the helm of the program. Frontier had taken out BHS to win a league championship, as well as finishing 9th in the state as a team with 8 state qualifiers. Placers including Cole Reyes and Max Aguirre both finishing on the podium, and Trent Tracy winning a state title at 170 pounds.

Franciotti has coached 81 state qualifiers, 19 state placers, and 3 individual state champions. He has led the Titans to three Top Ten team state finishes (2017 - 6th, 2018 - 9th, 2019 - 7th).

His daughter, Eva wrestles on the girls team.

Francotti began his coaching career in the 2008-09 season as an assistant coach to long-time Head Coach Kirk Moore, before leaving to take the Head Coaching position at West High School for two years.

He returned to Frontier in 2010-11, and would be named Co-Head Coach in 2015.

Franciotti wrestled collegiately at Cal State Bakersfield and would go into banking after college, before switching career paths where he would become a high school teacher and a wrestling coach.

Graduating from St. Francis High School, Franciotti would become a 7th place finisher in the state meet as a Senior, despite having only started wrestling as a Freshman.


Varsity Assistant

Josh Davis enters his 7th year coaching at Frontier High School. Davis has been paramount to Frontier upper weight success. In his tenure at Frontier, Davis has coached two Titan heavyweight wrestlers to D1 wrestling scholarships. Jarrod Snyder, who finished 4th and 3rd at state, and Jake Andrew, who finished 2nd at the unofficial state tournament during the COVID year, would both go on to wrestle at CSUB.

In addition to coaching for the Titans, Davis will be entering his second year as an assistant coach at Bakersfield College.

As a competitor, Davis won the California Open in Greco-Roman and was a multiple time finalist in both styles. He was a national finalist in the U.S. Open Masters Division for Greco and placed 3rd in Freestyle.

In college, he placed twice in the State meet at heavyweight while wrestling at Bakersfield College.

In high school, Davis finished in the Round of 12 at state as a senior. He received the CIF Pursuing Victory with Honor award and is in the Frontier Wrestling Hall of Fame. Davis was on the California national team for Fargo and competed in the Greco World Duals for Team Cali. He was also a two time Jr Greco-Roman state finalist.

Davis was also on the Frontier football team for 4 years. He played on both sides of the ball for the Titans. He would help lead his team to a 12-2 record and to a Valley Championship Game. Davis still holds the record for Frontier with Most Tackles by a Defensive Lineman. Davis was also chosen for and competed in the U.S. Army Arena Bowl All-Star Game.

 


Varsity Assistant

Coach Casper returns to the Titans after spending two seasons as the Head Coach for Garces Memorial High School. Casper had two state qualifiers last season in Hayden Tadeo and Brendon Ko.

While coaching for the Titans, Casper was integral in the development of state qualifiers Tristen Lorraine, Derek Alcantar, and Brycen Tablit, as well as to eventual three time state placer and two-time state champion, Miguel Estrada.

Casper was one of Elite Force Wrestling Club’s first coaches, before eventually founding Genesis Wrestling Club (would become NexGen RTC) in 2020. Genesis brought coaches and wrestlers from across Bakersfield to train together during the pandemic.

In college, Casper wrestled for York College in Nebraska where we was a NAIA National Qualifier.

In high school, Casper was a two-time league champion for Frontier High School and was the school's second league champion in history.

Varsity Assistant


Tracy comes back for his 2nd season on the Titans coaching staff. 

In 2023-2024, Tracy was instrumental in developing state qualifiers Jackson Naven, Brock Rios, and Ethan Naus.

In high school, Tracy was a two-time state placer for Frontier High School and was the schools first wrestling state champion in 2018. 

Tracy will be continuing to coach the 2nd season of the Northwest Youth Wrestling League this Fall in addition to coaching for Elite Force Wrestling Club.

Girls Assitant Coach

DJ Weimer is in his 2nd year coaching for Frontier as an assistant coach. Weimer was influential in the development of our new girl wrestlers in learning the sport.

Weimer joined the staff last season after coaching his son, DJ Weimer Jr, at BHS the year prior.

Weimer began coaching with the Driller Wrestling Club in 2014 when his son, DJ, joined the program. Weimer coached at Bakersfield High School from 2019 until 2023. 

His daughter attends Frontier, and is in our Girls program.

DJ Weimer, Jr currently wrestles at Palomar College in Southern California.

Bobby Sherill
JV Head Coach

Coach Sherill joins the staff after a several year hiatus from coaching. Sherill wrestled at North High School before wrestling at Cuesta College.


Girls Head Coach

Hernandez enters her first year at the helm of the Girls wrestling program after spending one year coaching for BHS.

In 2022-2023, Hernandez wrestled for Menlo College for one year before her season ended due to injury. While competing for the Oaks, she was named to the 2022-2023 Dean’s List.

In high school, Hernandez was a standout for Frontier High School. A three-time state qualifier, she placed 8th her freshman season, before finishing in the Round of 12 at state her Sophomore and Senior year. During the COVID season her Junior year, she moved to Utah where she won a state title.

 

“Having Coach Jackie around is a critical jump in our program. She is not only able to lead by example but she also is the example. Our athletes know who she is and when she tells them what to do, it sounds different than if it comes from a Franciotti or a Battisto. She is tough, and is going to be a great addition to our staff.” - Bryan Battisto




Varsity Assistant

Josh Naus is in his 4th year coaching for the Titans. Naus began coaching in 2021 when his son, Ethan, joined the team. 

Naus also coaches for Elite Force. 

In college, Josh Naus wrestled for the University of Nebraska, a perennial national powerhouse.

In high school, Naus was a state champion for Centennial, despite only beginning wrestling his 8th grade year.


Co-Head Coach


He enters his 4th year coaching at Frontier, and his 6th coaching high school.

In 2024, Battisto coached 6 wrestlers to the state meet, where Miguel Estrada would place 4th in the state.

In 2023, Battisto was named Co-Head Coach, and helped Miguel Estrada to his 2nd state title, after coaching 7 qualifiers to the state meet.

Battisto joined the staff for the 2021-2022 season, where the titans qualified 7 wrestlers to the state meet and finished 15th as a team. Battisto helped coach Miguel Estrada to his first state title.

Battisto also coaches for Elite Force Wrestling Club.

Battisto began his coaching career for the Rebel Wrestling Club in 2017 while competing collegiately at Cal State Bakersfield. He began coaching at South High School in 2019 before coaching at Frontier in 2021.

At CSUB, Battisto was a walk-on who earned a scholarship and started for the ‘Runners for three years at 174 and 184 pounds. He finished 3rd, 4th, and 2nd in the PAC-12 conference. 

A Harbor High School graduate in 2014, Battisto was a two-time CCS Champion, two-time state qualifier, and finished in the Round of 12 at State as a Senior. 



Varsity Assistant


Sean Sheets is in his 12th season with the Titans. Sheets coached at Frontier from 2006 to 2015, before rejoining the coaching staff in 2022 as his son, Treyton, joined the team.

Sheets has been critical in the development of not just the wrestlers on the team, but the parents and coaches as well.

Sheets has been a long time coach for Elite Force during his tenure with the Frontier wrestling team.

In college, Sheets wrestled for Fresno State University.

In high school, Sheets was a three time state placer, finishing 7th, 2nd, and 1st at the state meet, wrestling for Centennial High School.



Varsity Assistant

Frank Ussery joins the staff after coaching last year at Independence High School. He has also spent the last four years coaching at NexGen RTC. Ussery wrestled for North High School and then wrestled for two years at Bakersfield College.


Girls Assitant Coach

Vargas joins the staff this season after coaching briefly for the Driller Wrestling Club.

In college, Vargas wrestled at Northwestern University before transferring to Cal State Bakersfield. During his career, Vargas won the prestigious Midlands tournament, which is considered to be one of the most competitive collegiate tournaments in the country..
